HPBridge, a programme of the IHPBA

My role

Website work and documentary producer

The brief

HPBridge connects liver, pancreas and bile duct surgeons in resource-limited settings, so they can get peer input on complex cases. According to hpbridge.org (October 2026), the network covers 139 surgeons, 89 centres and 41 countries.

The challenge

Many of the people it needs to reach aren't surgeons. The website had to explain a highly specialised programme in plain English, earn the trust of donors and medical societies, and make giving simple.

What I did

I did the website work for HPBridge, and I produced a documentary on its surgical trip to Sri Lanka.

Explain the research

A section on the grants that support locally led research.

Lead with the mission

The homepage opens with what the programme does and how far it reaches, then gives one clear way to help.

Homepage section headed 89 Centres, 41 Countries, One Mission, with cards explaining each figure.

Show the work

Mission stories from Sri Lanka, Mexico, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya and Myanmar, so visitors see the programme in action rather than read about it.

A row of mission videos from Sri Lanka, Mexico City, Ethiopia and Nigeria.

Be open about money

A plain breakdown of where donations go, including the 92% that goes to programmes, and how the IHPBA is audited.

Section headed Transparent, Accountable, Effective, with three cards: registered charity, 92% to programmes, and audited.

Make giving simple

A 2026 funding drive section shows the $30,000 annual goal and what each type of gift pays for.

The 2026 funding drive panel with a $30,000 annual goal and a list of what each gift funds.

On a phone

The same homepage, the mission stories and the transparency section on a phone.

Three phones showing the hpbridge.org homepage with a Support our work button, the mission stories as swipeable cards, and the registered charity card.

The result

The site is live at hpbridge.org and supports the programme's 2026 funding drive.

Tools and deliverables

Website work, and a documentary on HPBridge's surgical trip to Sri Lanka.

What I'd bring to a clinic site

  • Explain complex care in plain English
  • Show real work instead of claims
  • Make the next step obvious
